Adult ADHD/ Autism Assessments at ELTC

At Embodied Life Therapy Center (ELTC), we specialize in neurodivergent-affirming assessments for adults, with a focus on late-identified and high-masking individuals. Our goal is to offer thorough, compassionate evaluations that provide insight, clarity, and validation, allowing you to better understand your neurodivergent traits. We offer two options for ADHD and/or autism assessments, each designed to meet your individual needs.

Assessment Options

Comprehensive Clinical Assessment for Adults

The Comprehensive Evaluation provides an official diagnosis and a detailed written report that becomes part of your official medical records. This thorough process requires approximately 10+ hours of your time and resources to complete and is ideal for those seeking a full assessment of ADHD, autism, or both.

  • Ideal for: Adults who need a formal diagnosis for self-understanding, work/school accommodations, medication management, or disability documentation.

  • What to expect: A full diagnostic evaluation, including intake, interviews, measurements, and a comprehensive written report.

Identity Exploration for Adults

The Identity Exploration is a more time- and cost-effective option, taking approximately 6+ hours to complete. This shorter evaluation offers a succinct write-up for personal use, which can be provided with or without a formal diagnosis and can be kept off your official medical records.

  • Ideal for: Adults seeking self-validation, identity exploration, or confirmation of neurodivergence without the need for official documentation.

  • What to expect: A focused evaluation, designed to offer insight and clarity into your neurodivergent traits, without the extensive formalities of a comprehensive assessment.

The Assessment Process

Both assessment options include the following components:

  • Intake: A detailed discussion of your background and reasons for seeking an assessment.

  • Measurements: Completion of standardized questionnaires and evaluations tailored to neurodivergent traits.

  • Interviews: Conversations with your assessor to explore personal history, challenges, and experiences.

  • Written Report: A summary of findings, including diagnostic conclusions (if applicable) and recommendations.

  • Post-diagnostic Consultation: A final session to discuss your specific needs, insights, and next steps.

Preparing for your Assessment: Important Considerations â€‹

At ELTC, we highly recommend that late-identified or high-masking adults take time to engage in self-reflection or work with a therapist before scheduling an evaluation. This can enhance the effectiveness of the assessment, as it allows for clearer understanding and better communication of your neurodivergent traits.

Before scheduling an assessment, please consider the following questions:

  • How have you explored your neurodiversity? What has led you to seek an assessment at this time?

  • Why are you seeking a diagnosis? Is it for personal validation, identity confirmation, work/school accommodations, medication management, or disability support?

  • Are you looking to explore your diagnostic history in addition to the formal ADHD/autism evaluation? For example, would you like to revisit or clarify previous diagnoses such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.?

  • What level of time and financial investment are you able to make

  • Do you require a full Psychological Evaluation with IQ testing? (Please note: ELTC does not offer IQ testing.)

Considerations for Choosing an Assessor

Selecting an assessor who is neurodivergent-affirming or neurodivergent themselves can be a crucial aspect of receiving an accurate and supportive diagnosis. For those already in therapy, deciding whether to be assessed by your current therapist or an outside assessor can also be important. Some late-identified adults experience feelings of imposter syndrome around their diagnosis, and an external opinion may offer greater validation. However, if you have developed a strong rapport and trust with your therapist, having them conduct the assessment may be more beneficial.

Considerations for Cost

We offer several options for ADHD and autism assessments, tailored to meet individual needs:

  • Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment (Standalone for ADHD or Autism)

  • Dual Diagnostic Assessment (ADHD and Autism)

  • Identity Exploration
